My Rock #poetry

You were supposed to be my rock
Anchoring me against the storm
Instead you became a wave
Washing me up on the shore.

The hollowness of your promises
Rings in my ears
The heaviness of your lies
Crushes me into the dirt.

All that time wasted
But to what gain?
Was there ever a reason
Or was it just to entertain?

Are you better off now without me?
Or are you as broken as I–
Waking up every day to ask yourself why.

Don’t forget more great poetry is available in my poetry anthology Untitled Sadness available here
