I have a whole slew of books on writing, but today I was asked to share JUST ONE. The most helpful book I have in my arsenal is: The Emotion Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Character Expression (Second Edition) (Writers Helping Writers Series) which can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0999296345

Why is this book the best? Because unlike a normal thesaurus, this one gives you the ammo you need to keep your characters from simply talking to one another. I started using this in one of my WIP last year. I had to take a pause from that work, but when I returned to it, I surprised myself.

Now, when I write, I find myself referring to this book often. Truthfully, the whole series is excellent, but if you had to only pick one, I’d start with this one.
