Contessa of Rebellion: The Plot Will Keep You Guessing
Hey! I’m back here today with some NEW BOOK news for you. Coming on 7/5/21 you can get your hands on my very first book in my Rebellious Romance line. What is Rebellious Romance you might be asking…well these are one-shot stories mixing fantasy, romance, and whatever else I may want to throw in to complete a HEA (happily ever after) ending. These books will include some rather hot scenes, but unlike some books I’ve read lately, will have an actual plot not centered on just sex.
As I mentioned, the first book up in this line is Contessa of Rebellion. It might look like a historical romance, but it’s not. If you didn’t know, I hate researching things because there is so much a person can get wrong. I also hate being constricted by strict rules. But this is why I love the fantasy umbrella so much….creating something out of nothing or taking something you thought you knew and turning the idea on its ear…..that’s a big part of every book I write! So, really, would you expect my romance books to fit in a neat box? Contessa is set in a made up world full of the things I love….castles, nobility, magic, and a twisty plot! Have a snippet!
Alessandra snickered. “Yes, the great Lady Alessandra with her six suitors. One who is older than her father would have been. Another who is not only a false noble, but also entangled with another woman. I have no clue who three are because I don’t remember meeting them. And one persistent young king who has hatched a plan to ruin my reputation to save me.”
Pulling her hand to his mouth, Nic smiled as he kissed each knuckle. “I can ruin you for real if you’d like.”
Rosie Wylor-Owen, a USA Today Bestselling author of urban fantasy and paranormal romance novels, read my latest book! Here is a snippet: “This was a fast-paced, twist-filled, saucy read that has you guessing at every turn.” You can check out the full review here! And while you are there check out the rest of her website. Rosie has several interesting books she’s written herself.
To save her people, she must marry the villain.
Lady Alessandra, eldest daughter of Contessa Lia, just buried her mother. Altamonte tradition dictates Alessandra must pick up the mantle of Contessa as the first-born daughter. As Alessandra prepares to accept her duties while battling her grief, Alaric, her step-father, surprises Alessandra with a last-minute royal decree from her late mother. In order to claim her throne, Alessandra must wed by her 26th birthday or they will strip her of her birthright. Alessandra has no qualms about getting married, but the deadline is less than a month away and she has yet to be introduced into society. Finding a husband on such short notice is hard, but finding one without a proper introduction into society is near impossible. Of course, Alaric has a solution for her—he’ll marry her.
Disgusted by the thought of marrying Alaric The Usurper, the foreign man who killed her father, Alessandra departs Altamonte in secret and rides for her cousin’s home in Girardeau. Once safe in King Lysander’s castle, Alessandra learns just how high the odds are stacked against her. The only thing holding Alaric back from reviving the war he once waged on Altamonte and the surrounding lands is his lack of control of the throne. If Alessandra doesn’t marry before the deadline, the throne will pass to her younger half-sister Jessa–and Alaric becomes Regent. However, if Alessandra concedes and agrees to marry Alaric, she may end up losing her life.
Faced with trying to protect both Alessandra and his own kingdom from Alaric, King Lysander hatches a plot to introduce his cousin to society. He hopes to free her from the impossible situation she finds herself in by finding Alessandra a suitable husband. But will Lysander’s efforts be enough to counteract the lies Alaric spread over the last two years? Or will Alessandra have to sacrifice herself to keep Alaric at bay?
The Contessa of Rebellion is a standalone fantasy romance with a happily ever after sure to please fans of Bertrice Small.
