Your Love Still Haunts Me (Poetry)

I don’t want to go to the places we went.
I don’t want to see our old friends.
I want to forget we ever met.
I want back all the time I spent.
Loving you was an addiction.
Possibly an affliction.
Mesmerized by palatable lies
You damaged me more than I realized.
Building me up-
So you could slowly tear me down-
Inside your world I became bound.
I thought I escaped unscathed.
I thought I learned all your charades.
But your love still haunts me.
