Old Friends

I don’t want to go to the places we went

I don’t want to see our “old friends”.

I want to forget we ever met.

I want back all the time I spent.

Loving you was an addiction.

Possibly an affliction.

Mesmerized by palatable lies-

You damaged me more than I realized.

Building me up-

So you could slowly tear me down-

Inside your world I became bound.

I thought I escaped unscathed.

Thought I learned all of your charades.

But your love still haunts me.
