Author Talk: So You Wanna Write A Book?

Over the years I have focused on my “So You Wrote A Book” series to help newer authors navigate the world of independent publishing.  Yet, what about people who stop here and would like to write a book, but need some help?  That’s right, we start a new series!

I am a hoarder of knowledge.  My problem is I often forget about the knowledge and where I shoved it.  The other night I looked in my Kindle documents/books and made a “collection”.  I was more than thrilled to find that this collection shows up in my reading app.  🙂

I forgot I had purchased, on a whim, a book called Show, Don’t Tell: How to write vivid descriptions, handle backstory, and describe your characters’ emotions (Writers’ Guide Series Book 3)How many times have you, as a writer, heard this?  Do you have any idea what it means?  I had SOME inkling before reading this book, but not a stellar grasp.  This book puts things in an easy to understand perspective!

I was pleased to see it had lots of EXAMPLES to help you pick out telling and how to fix them.   It also finally answered the question on why those LY words are “hated” without telling you to get rid of every LY word ever and that’s the advice.

Books that teach and help you improve are invaluable.  When I picked it up, it was only 0.99 at Amazon.  I say it is well worth the price.

What’s that?  You want to learn more?  Check out this course  that will teach you everything you need to know to be a successful author.  From story concept to promotion.

I took the course last year and it leveled up my authoring game!
